What we collect
We keep things minimal. The messages you write stay on your device to create and read bottles; we do not require an account. Basic, aggregate usage may be measured to improve the site.
Two narrow interactions do touch our server, and neither carries your written words or any personal information. First, casting a bottle sends an anonymous, number-only signal that increments the shared “bottles cast today” tally — your written line is released on your own device and is never sent or stored. Second, if you press Share, the details on your keepsake card (an anonymous reference to the found note plus your shore-day and streak counts — never your text, never anything that identifies you) are processed on our server to render the public preview image and short link you share. In short: no user-written text and no personal information ever leaves your device.
Your shelf — the found notes you have gathered, your shore-day count and your streaks — is kept in your browser’s local storage on the device you used, for as long as you leave it there. It never reaches us, it does not sync between devices, and clearing your browser storage for this site erases it permanently.

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
